Out of the Ashes

Started adding the background image to the mural. The idea is to portray a phoenix that bursts into the 4 elements – earth, air, fire, and water. The phoenix will eventually be painted in full-color without the outlines you see here. Each of the elements will spread off into bits that are native to that particular element, i.e. the branches (earth) will give way to flowers, leaves, bugs, etc.

“Whosoever holds this hammer…”

One of my FAVORITE comic book heroes of all time is coming to the big screen… The Mighty Thor! It is slated to come out May 2011, with filming commencing in January of next year. Most of the major characters have been cast and so far it’s looking pretty darn good! And to top it all off, Kenneth Branagh is directing it too, so it should be quite epic!

I was messing around with a poster idea the other day at work (yes, I am THAT big of a geek…just ask my wife.) It was made from a million different bits and pieces I found online. Gotta love Google image search! Check it out!

Professor Plum, in the Conservatory, with a Candlestick…

It’s that time of year again…
This year for our company’s annual Forum, we decided to skip the whole over-priced, worthless "motivational" speaker and go with something a bit more fun and engaging. Jo took me to Vegas for my birthday last year and we had such a great time at the "Marriage Can [...]

Reach out, touch faith…

Jo and I have a big white wall in our apartment that has been covered with CDs for the longest time. Last summer, the earthquake putty that held them on the wall became so soft from the heat that they would randomly fall down and scare me to death while I was sleeping. I always [...]

It’s a kind of magic!

Alone & Uncredited

A few months ago, I did a photoshoot with Jennifer Rose. She is an amazing local musician whose voice conjurs up memories of the best Pat Benatar and Berlin songs from the 80’s. Her new album, “Alone & Unsupervised” was recently released and there on the cover is one of the many photos I took [...]

Daddy, what does “empower” mean?

Los Angeles County is gearing up for their annual Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work Day. Every year, they come up with some lofty/verbose theme that goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the kids’ heads, and this year is no different. The theme this year is “Building Relationships to Educate and Empower.” Now, the age range for [...]

I see a red door and I want to paint it black…

Last Friday I had the opportunity to attend a one-day seminar on Photoshop CS4 for Photographers. Ben Willmore taught Photoshop speed tips, his favorite photo-editing techniques for retouching, restoration, color correction, and a ton of other stuff. Ben has this amazing illustrative style to his photography, and he showed us how to accomplish the [...]

SHHHH! Be vewy, vewy quiet…

Every year, we have a Silent Auction at work to raise money for our big end-of-the-year-generic-holiday party. The auction usually consists of miscellaneous junk found in people’s garage or unwanted Christmas gifts. From time to time, there have even been instances of people donating used clothing for the cause… I don’t know about you, but [...]
