China! China!

By admin

Been watching a lot of the Olympics and every time I do, that old 80’s song from The Red Rockers keeps going through my head. How many of you remember this song, raise your hand? Not really Olympics-fare, but since it’s been reverberating inside my head, I wanted to share it with you, too.

"China" by The Red Rockers

Danced with wind and danced with fire
Killed the truth and called the liar
Bleeding in its mystery when the moon began to fall
Dreamers are not all they seem,
Sleeping in her silent dream
She locks it all inside and hides it all away

China, China
Calling out to history
Is that the way it will always be?
China, China
Questions right in my hand, and then
Answers gone till I don`t know when

All you speak and all you hear
Hand that`s strong and voice it`s clear
An unforgotten memory and the moon begins to call
Called you right and called you wrong
Time, the shadow, sings your song
Don`t lock it all inside and hide it all away

China, China
Calling out to history
Is that the way it will always be?
China, China
Questions right in my hand, and then
Answers gone till I don`t know when

A friend of mine, James Preston Rogers, is so perfect for the role of Thor! An experienced actor, stands 6 foot 5 inches, and is one hell of a great guy!

Avengers Assemble!!!!

By admin

After rereading my previous post about Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Capt. America and the preludes to the Avengers movie, I wanted to post an oldie-but-goodie “Got Milk” commercial starring all of the above, plus Spidey, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch. Check out how insanely dorky Iron Man looks in this! LOL!! Enjoy!

The Dark Knight Before the Dawn…

By admin

With an amazingly, non-surpising, record-breaking opening ($158.4 million over the Friday-to-Sunday frame), the new installment of the Batman movie franchise has lived up to its hype in a MAJOR way. I am one of the very few who stayed away from the theaters this weekend. Maybe I am just getting old, or maybe lazy. Possibly both. Instead I opted to see “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” at my local $3 theater. Which, if you haven’t yet seen it, is not even worth the $3.

While I love the new direction the slacker/follower studio Warner Bros. is taking with Batman, I still am waiting for the crowds to die down a bit before I go see it. One by one, my coworkers have approached me, asking if I had seen it yet. Of course they have. It’s encouraging to hear how good it is. So many comic books are rushed into film format just for the sake of a quick buck. But usually the end product is major crap and ends up besmurching the name of the hero in the process. Cases in point —> Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four, and the Joel Schumacher incarnations of Batman.

Being a comic book geek, I LOVE seeing these heroes come to life! When the trend began it was either hit or miss. This year has signaled a new dawn of quality in my opinion. Attention, detail, respect. The new Hulk movie is good enough to make you forget about the Ang Lee snoozer. Hellboy 2 built on the first film and took it to an all new level, thanks to del Toro’s continued love for the character and vivid imagination. Then, of course, there was Iron Man… ’nuff said. And now with The Dark Knight, things are becoming really exciting! Not to mention how AWESOME Watchmen looks, but that’s a year off still…

One of the things I loved this year was the beginning of Marvel’s big picture movie making. With the promise of an Avengers film a few years away, they have already begun to lay the groundwork. And what a great way to begin with Iron Man and the scene with Nick Fury offering him the chance to work with the “Avengers Initiative.” And then Tony Stark’s appearance in Hulk with the same proposal to Gen. Ross regarding the Green Behemoth. Plus, both films had teasers and geek stuff hidden throughout regarding S.H.I.E.L.D. and Capt. America… WOOHOO! Just thinking of the possibilities gets me all gooey!

So thanks to Marvel throwing down the gauntlet and DC raising the bar, the future of super hero films looks blindingly bright!!
